An influx of terrorist activities in 2000´s and hybrid warfare against Western-style
democracies brought a renaissance of concept of societal resilience which was rather vital for
nation states during the Cold war. This article deals with the issue of societal resilience concept
and its application in the Czech Republic. Three academic concepts of resilience of society
against terrorism are discussed in the paper. Besides, authors discussed the question of the
construction of a national concept of societal resilience against contemporary security threats
and its applicability in a peaceful society such the Czech Republic is. Furthermore, authors
scrutinized using of the term of national resilience in the Czech security strategies and other
documents shaping the national security policy and they proposed to form a national concept of
resilience
