Abstract

3D laser scanning system has been acquired by the Population Protection Institute
mainly for the use in forensic investigation of fire causes. The article deals with its broader
usability within the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic. The authors introduce usability
of the scanning system to perform tasks of the State Fire Supervision, and the Fire Rescue Units
when dealing with emergencies and preparations for them. The article also presents
possibilities for creation of simulations and modelling
