The paper describes results obtained in a process of verifying usability of the Digital
Mobile Radio Technology for transmitting a spoken word into electronic warning and mass
notification devices - electronic sirens and local information systems. Possibility of transmitting
a spoken word would significantly improve functionality of the Unified System of Warning and
Notification that could also be used to provide operational emergency information.
