In the years 2007–2012, research was carried out on the tightness of protective masks.
The aim of the research was to test how air tight the PMs offered on the Czech market are. The
research further continued and attempted to verify the tightness of the PMs using objective
factors that could change its efficiency both negatively and positively. A negative factor could
be an unshaven male face; on the contrary a positive factor could be equipping a mask with an
air-filter unit.
The paper summarizes obtained measurement results and shows to what extent
tightness of PMs is affected by those factors.
