Abstract

The solution of extraordinary event in the field of oil and petroleum products is more
complicated in Slovakia that Slovakia has to import most of the oil. Even if it has built
emergency oil reserves, it needs to pay maximum attention to oil pipelines system in the event of
an emergency, with an emphasis on their transport and distribution network. The oil processing
process requires significant attention and security measures. In the event of a emergencies
situation, there may be, inter alia, disruption of the transport and distribution routes, whether
disruption of the oil processing process or destruction of oil and petroleum products stores.
Slovakia republic is required to address the state of oil emergency in the case of need, which
results from its membership in the European Union, and the Agreement on the International
Energy Program of the International Energy Agency (IEA). The aim of this paper is to assess
the potential risks of an extraordinary event related to the technical infrastructure and to point
out the risks using a point method based on an expert evaluation.
