SELECTED DISEASE RISKS TO FIREFIGHTERS

Abstract

According to the several foreign studies firefighters as a professional group have
a higher risk of getting more serious diseases comparing with the rest of the population.
Etiological factor which differentiates firefighters from the other emergency services is to
fire-fight and to be exposed to the fire fumes. The aim of this study is to introduce complex
information about the risk factors related to the exposure of the fire fumes including up-to-date
epidemiological data with focus on cancer and cardiovascular diseases among the firefighters.
Conclusion of The study also highlights several factors which may distort the results of the
exposure assessment and conclusions of the epidemiological studies.
