Only a few people experienced a natural disaster personally. Their
creepiness does not lie only in enormous damage on lives and property, but also in
a short time period in which they occur. A natural disaster is a quite exceptional
phenomenon which exceeds everything that people are accustomed to. During
seconds everything changes. After a disaster the area is not the one it used to be
before. The human society will always be exposed to natural threats, whether they
are floods, droughts, storms or earthquakes. Present day disasters are sometimes
caused by man and human activities or the inactivity makes their impact even worse.
Natural sources of risks practically influence all nations. Nevertheless their power
and intensity, year after year, and area after area, have been notably changing.
Acquaintance where the risk source is and what it represents is a presumption to
manage more efficient precaution of prevention and also appropriate readiness of
crisis management bodies and rescue units for crisis situations solving. Essential and
in advance evaluated indicator of suitable decision in the frame of crisis
management, strategies development, plans and proposals is the risk analysis that
includes evaluation of all items of relevant potential threats and its impact to the
society and environment.
