Abstract

The issue of CFD simulation of burning and spread of fires in enclosed
buildings is a very complex process which requires both a basic knowledge of the
physical flow with burning, but also detailed information about the object, its
boundary conditions and thermophysical properties of the materials. Thermophysical
properties of some materials have a significant impact on the actual spread of fire
and heat transfer by combustion. Proper determinations of these properties have
a large influence on the results of numerical simulation. These characteristics were
obtained either from tables or from the results of the experiment. The calculated
results were compared with those obtained by experiment.
The aim is therefore the validation of mathematical model using computer
software FLUENT for fire technical expertise and thereby to contribute to better
understanding of fire behavior in the living room, to prevent its possible spread to
other areas of the house and thus avoid unnecessary losses of tangible property
and especially to human lives.
