Abstract

The contribution focuses both on the current and past concepts of fire protection in legal regulations. The focus will be on the historical concept, starting from the era of fire patents from the time of Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Joseph II, through legal regulations focused on the Czech lands, to the establishment of Czechoslovakia. Subsequently, the legal regulation during the time of the Czechoslovak Republic is described, in relation to its concept and philosophy of adopting this legal regulation and its practicality. The discussion focuses not only on the philosophy and concept of legal regulation but also on the intervention activities, competencies of fire brigades, and their organization. It is certainly not a detailed description but rather a systematic description of the development of legal regulation. Last but not least, the discussion will assess the previous and current legal regulation in terms of its comparison and evaluate de lege ferenda.
