Abstract

Currently we are the witnesses of scientific and technical changes and
also geopolitical or intellectual ones which lead to transformation of civilization in
Europe. These changes concern forms and ways of life and surroundings which
form us and control the social processes to a large degree. After years of effort
a card carrying, based on partnership participation in NATO’s activities and
active membership in the European Union make us think through. Polish Police as
institution which is a guarantor of social order and internal security must blend
into reality. This article discusses the issues of policing strategies in contacts with
society at local level. Policing community philosophy is not easy to define because
it combines the elements taken from many disciplines. Activities within this strategy
refer not only to a single unit but also to the whole local community. In the
democratic nations community policing is an effective freedom and safety
“carrier”, so a life without fear. It makes society friendly and more open to
cooperation.
