Electricity is an integral part of everyday life for people around the world. Electricity
supplies ensure the functioning of households, healthcare, industry, transport and other parts of
society. The proper functioning of the rail transport sub-sector depends on electricity supply. In
the event of a supply disruption, there may be a serious loss of traffic as more and more railway
lines are electrified. Such modernization also carries risks. It is therefore important to pay
particular attention to the resilience of the critical infrastructure elements on which the
electricity supply depends.
