Abstract

The biggest risk arising from insufficiency in ensuring personal protection
is the risk connected to endangering lives and health of population. In the Czech
Republic it is legally binding to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) for
selected groups of the population. This conference paper recounts quantitative and
qualitative aspects of providing security to the population of the Czech Republic.
Equipment with forced filter-ventilation is the current trend in the field of
respiratory protection. Population Protection Institute (PPI) in cooperation with
a company Malina Safety Jablonec nad Nisou has built functional samples of
equipment for children and specialists of the IRS. In conclusion, the conference
paper indicates that elimination of existing stored and functional PPE would be
highly unpragmatic and irrational.
